Shaykh ʿAbdullāh Ṣalīḥ

Shaykh ʿAbdulāh Ṣalīḥ was born in Namibia. After completing high school, he travelled to the United Kingdom to pursue his studies. It was in North London, in 2003, that he embraced Islam. Shortly thereafter, he met the noble scholar Shaykh Muḥammad al-Yaqoubi (may ALLĀH ﷻ preserve him), who advised him to travel and seek sacred knowledge.

Among the places the Shaykh recommended for the pursuit of knowledge was Yemen — the blessed land of the great scholar, Ḥabīb ʿUmar bin Ḥafīẓ (may ALLĀH ﷻ preserve him).

Shaykh ʿAbdulāh Ṣalīḥ returned briefly to his homeland, Namibia, to inform his parents of his embrace of Islam and his intention to travel to Yemen. Shortly thereafter, he arrived in the sacred city of Tarīm, surrounded by its luminaries — teachers whose lineage and guidance trace back to the blessed family of the Prophet ﷺ.

His path began with the study of the Arabic language, the essential gateway to the Islamic sciences. Once he attained proficiency, he entered into the formal curriculum of Dār al-Muṣṭafā, progressing through its structured program in disciplines such as Sīrah, Ḥadīth, Fiqh, and other foundational sciences.

After spending a few years in Tarīm, he travelled to South Africa accompanying Ḥabīb Muḥammad al-ʿAydarūs on a Dawah trip, which thereafter paved the way for students from South Africa to come study in Tarim. He then returned to Tarīm to continue his journey of knowledge and spiritual refinement.

Throughout his studies and travels, he remained closely connected to numerous esteemed Ḥabāʾib, including Ḥabīb ʿAlī Abū Bakr, Ḥabīb Kāẓim as-Saqqāf, Ḥabīb ʿAlawī al-ʿAydarūs, and Ḥabīb Ṭāhir — all of whom played a role in shaping his understanding, character, and spiritual path.

He was honoured with the name “Ṣāliḥ” by the great Ḥabīb Abū Bakr al-ʿAdanī (may ALLĀH ﷻ have mercy on him) during one of the gatherings of knowledge — a name that became part of his identity and legacy in the path of daʿwah.

Today, Shaykh ʿAbdulāh Ṣalīḥ resides between Tarīm and Namibia, actively engaged in daʿwah both locally and internationally, continuing a journey of service to ALLĀH ﷻ and His Messenger ﷺ that began with sincerity, travel, and a heart seeking guidance.

During his years in Tarīm, he also began translating the works of Ḥabīb ʿUmar bin Ḥafīẓ into English, making these treasures accessible to a wider audience. This became an integral part of his service, and until today he continues to translate numerous works of Sayyidī Ḥabīb ʿUmar as well as publications of other esteemed Ḥabāʾib.

In 2019, Sayyidī Ḥabīb ʿUmar bin Ḥafīẓ (may ALLĀH ﷻ preserve him) bestowed upon him the name of his daʿwah organisation, Almawaddah Foundation.
And in 2024, Sayyidī Ḥabīb ʿUmar (may ALLĀH ﷻ preserve him) granted the name of his publishing house, Nūr al-Īmān Publishing, further anchoring his work in a legacy of spiritual guidance and service.

Shaykh ʿAbdullāh Ṣāliḥ is the founder of Almawaddah Foundation and Nūr al-Īmān Publications, both of which were personally named and blessed by his Shaykh, Sayyidī al-Ḥabīb ʿUmar bin Ḥafīẓ.
