By the grace of Allāh, Nūr al-Yaqīn Madrasah was named by our beloved teacher, Sayyidī al-Ḥabīb ʿUmar bin Ḥafīẓ, on the blessed day of Friday, 17 Rabīʿ al-Awwal 1447 AH in Tarīm.
The madrasah was established with the intention of creating a place where sacred knowledge is not only studied from books, but received through teachers who themselves have travelled the path of learning, companionship, spiritual refinement and service under the teachers of the Sādah Bā ʿAlawī.
Our aim is to offer lessons rooted in the traditional teachings and methodology of the Sādah Bā ʿAlawī, taught by qualified teachers who have studied under and benefited from scholars of this blessed tradition.
At the heart of Nūr al-Yaqīn is the understanding that sacred knowledge has been carried from generation to generation through an unbroken tradition of teachers and students: from the great Imāms of the Bā ʿAlawī path, including Imām al-Muhājir Aḥmad bin ʿĪsā, Imām al-Faqīh al-Muqaddam Muḥammad bin ʿAlī Bā ʿAlawī, Imām ʿAbdullāh bin ʿAlawī al-Ḥaddād, and the generations of scholars and spiritual educators who followed them, ultimately tracing their inheritance to our Master, the Messenger of Allāh, Sayyidinā Muḥammad ﷺ.
Through its lessons, the madrasah seeks to nurture ʿilm, adab, worship, purification of the heart, good character, love of Allāh and His Messenger ﷺ, and service to creation.
We hope Nūr al-Yaqīn will become a means through which children, families and students can encounter this inheritance in an accessible and beautiful way—learning not merely what our teachers taught, but also something of how they lived, worshipped, served, taught and refined their character.
May Allāh place light, sincerity and barakah in Nūr al-Yaqīn, preserve our teachers and all those through whom this sacred inheritance has reached us, and make the madrasah a means of connecting hearts to Allāh and His beloved Messenger ﷺ.
